YouTube can be addictive…

Thanks to this self isolation period, I’ve been watching a ton of videos on YouTube. It becomes a daily routine for me now. I used to think YouTube is great platform, a place where creators share their ideas and exchange opinions with the rest of the world, people can learn things by just watching a few minutes of video, isn’t it great?

However, I notice some of the downsides of YouTube, especially when YouTubers are monetising their videos, aiming for more subscribers and sponsorships, the content becomes repetitive.

I’m not sure why I’m scrolling through YouTube now. Is it for education purpose? Is it for entertainment? It might be fun to watch “What’s in my bag” video once but what’s the point to continue watching 10x videos with the same content, really? It sounds more like spying other people’s life to me. I think it becomes kind of pointless now. I’m doing it because I’m bored.

That being said, I must cut down the time I spend on YouTube and try to do other things. Otherwise, YouTube might just turn into another form of Instagram…
